International Country Risk Researcher and Historic Datasets International Country Risk (ICRG) Researcher Datasets
français

Description of the datasets:

The Researcher Datasets from the PRS Group provide annual and monthly weighted average risks across countries from 1984 on a wealth of Political, Economicand Financial risk topics for 140 monitored countries (see list of countries).

From the producer's web site: The ICRG methodology is used consistently by researchers at the IMF, and has been acclaimed in such publications as Barron’s, The Economist, and The Wall Street Journal. (Accessed, March 11, 2016)
See online brochure.

* Ratings explained: Ratings of 0 equate to very low risk and the upper-most ratings, e.g., 4, 6, 12, ... equate to very high risk. The exception to this is "Composite Risk" where "... the highest overall rating (theoretically 100) indicates the lowest risk, and the lowest rating (theoretically zero) indicates the highest risk" (UGM, page 15).

* Unique coverage: There are 27 political risk measurements including five aggregates for which there are 15 associated subcomponent variables in total and seven other aggregates for which PRS does not provide separate subcomponent variables. What are these 27 political risk measurements and where do I find the annual and monthly country data? Consult the full look up list of political risk measurements here,.xlsx
