Search

Use the search feature to find specific series or keywords within the databases. Narrow your search with selections in Match, Options and Geography.

Item Description

Search box - To enter your query.

The keywords OR and || can also be used to filter the search. For example, "jobs OR employment" will return the same results as "jobs || employment."

Double Quotes can be used for an exact search. For example, when your query includes a space as it does for "car parts."

Search menu bar consists of:

  • Start search
  • Stops the search
  • Skips the current database in the search process
  • Clears the list of items found

Match

Check one or more of the following options to filter your search:

  • Footnotes/Subtitles
  • Partial Word
  • Codes Only (cannot be combined with other match options)
  • Current Database (only works when a database is opened)
Options

Select from the dropdown menu to filter your search on the following items:

  • Frequency
  • Category
Select Geography Select from the listed regions to filter your search.

Search results include the following:

  • Found - the series found in the form of code@database
  • Matches - the number of matches found on a particular menu page
  • Description - a description of the first match on a page

  1. Open the search panel by doing one of the following:
    • Go to View > Toolbars and Docking Windows > Search
    • Click the search button from the menu navigation bar

    • Click the Search tab on the edge of the workspace
    • Click the drop-down arrow of the default icon and select Search
    • CTRL + F
  2. Enter your query in the search box
  3. (Optional) Filter your search options
  4. Click search from the search menu bar or ENTER
  5. The search results are returned at the bottom of the search panel
  6. (Optional) To see more results, click
ClosedUse the Name List

The name list offers a quick way to search for series mnemonics in the current database.

 

Use the name list

  1. Open a database: Click one of the databases from the menu OR ALT + D
  2. Open the name list with ctrl + n
  3. Enter part of the series name
  4. Find and select the series
  5. Click OK or ENTER
